The Pen is a classic prison server that feels like the old days where you start weak and you actually have to grind. You begin with basic tools and leather armor then you work your way up the ranks from A through H and eventually Parolee and Citizen.
A big part of the server is risk. You smelt your ores and you have to travel through PvP zones to sell at the Commissary. Swords and potions are illegal and guards will fight you if they catch you with them. If you act up you can even get sent to solitary confinement.
There is more to do than just mining. You can rent a cell or a plot to store stuff build grow special illegal plants for profit and even set up your own shop. You can earn money by fishing mining growing contraband crops or selling to other players.
It also has quests for extra cash or special items plus bounties you can place on enemies and an auction house for trading. There are no easy commands like sethome ah or claim so you have to travel and protect your stuff the hard way. There is no pay to win but you can buy cosmetic tiers.
The server has a RedLine System where you can collect special weapons like maces swords and axes with names and skins if you use their custom resource pack. Each set has one of each weapon so people race to craft them.
