Crafted Survival is a semi vanilla SMP where people actually stick around. It feels like a community server with an economy and lots of building going on.
The economy is based on diamonds so trading and running shops is a big part of the game. You can make player shops and also use a shop GUI to browse what others are selling.
Land claiming is on so you can protect your builds using golden shovels. It is PvE focused with no griefing and no keep inventory so it still feels like real survival.
It also supports Java and Bedrock crossplay. There is a live world map you can check in a browser and there are separate resource worlds so the main world stays cleaner. There are ranks and vote rewards and weekly events with a friendly vibe.

Arcamere is a new modded Java server that is all about roleplay and building a world together. People make towns and stories and hang out in chat and voice chat. The vibe is friendly and positive and it is meant to be a close community.
The mod pack is made to boost farming plus quality of life plus performance and also more artistic creativity. There is a custom 10k by 10k world with realistic biomes so exploring and settling feels big.
They run events sometimes and there is a meta plot that gives you chances to jump into RP. The staff team is active and they listen to suggestions and add stuff the community asks for. The server is on Minecraft Java 1.21.1.

Farmlands SMP is a cozy survival server with a small community feel and it is whitelisted and 18 plus. It is made for players who like taking their time so long term builds and farms actually matter.
The main world is meant to last so you can settle in and keep working on big projects without feeling rushed. There is also a separate resource world that resets regularly so gathering materials does not mess up your home area.
Gameplay stays close to vanilla with a few quality of life features plus a custom advancement pack for extra challenges. The rules are strict about no griefing no stealing and no toxicity.
The economy is player driven so you can trade or open your own shop. There are no ranks and no pay to win so effort is what counts.

I found a vanilla survival server that runs on hard difficulty and it feels like real survival. There is no keep inventory so dying matters and you have to be careful.
The world is meant to last and it is not doing quick resets. People play on one shared map and it has a lot of players on most days so the world feels alive.
There are no land claims and no locked chests. It works because the server leans on trust and active moderation.
There are no kits and no payments or perks. Progress feels earned and long term builds feel worth it.
Spawn is usually busy with people working on shops and roads. Players also explore in groups and you see people helping newer players get back on their feet. Java and Bedrock players can both join and chat together.
When you join you have to read the rules first to unlock building item use and chat.

I found an SMP that is all about conflict betrayal PvP and loss. If you cannot handle dying or losing items then this is not for you. The server expects you to take hits and keep going.
Everything is meant to be fair. The world is brand new so there is still loot and structures around. Nobody is way ahead and there is no pay to win.
You cannot get offline griefed. If you are not online then people cannot destroy your base. But if you are online there is no special protection so raids can happen and fights decide what happens next.
The server is capped at 50 players and they want it to last a long time. Whitelist is required. It supports 1.16 to 1.21.11 and it works for Java and Bedrock players.
