Golden Nations is a semi vanilla server that is all about nations politics and war. It runs on Minecraft 1.21.11 and the world is 5k by 5k so everyone is close and has to deal with each other.
Players create nations write their own rules and try to control land and power. People make alliances sign treaties and sometimes backstab each other so the whole thing feels like a geopolitical world and not just a normal factions server.
The economy is driven by players and not villagers or shops. You can sell crops and ores but other stuff is based on trade and what your nation can produce. If you control resources and trade routes you get more power.
War is really serious here. When there is an official war and you die you get banned for 24 hours and your character gets fully reset. So leaders have to plan fights carefully and value their soldiers because every battle can change the whole server.
There is custom fishing loot that gives rare items and materials so even fishing can matter for your nation.
There are no elytras and no villagers so travel is harder and borders and terrain are important again. There is no easy way to get free gear so nations have to rely on real players and not on broken trading.
Overall this server is for people who want politics strategy and meaningful conflict where every choice actually matters.

This is a classic style prison server that feels like the old days. It is not some crazy OP place. You start with simple tools and leather armor and you have to work for everything you get.
You rank up through the prison by grinding and mining. You have to smelt your ores yourself and then walk through pvp areas to get to the commissary to sell them. There is no instant sell so it feels risky and tense.
There are guards that help new players but they also enforce the rules. Swords and potions and some plants are illegal. If a guard sees you with contraband they can pvp you and even send you to solitary confinement for bad behavior.
You can rent a prison cell or a plot. In those places you can store items grow the special illegal plants or build and make your own shop to sell stuff to other players.
There are quests to do for extra money or special items. You can also fish with custom fishing and use bounties if you have enemies. There is an auction house to trade and parkour challenges scattered around the prison.
If you rank high enough you can prestige for special rewards. You can even become a parolee and leave the prison to build a farm and make more money. The whole server is about grinding pvp and community like old 2014 prison servers.

Nations of The Void is a modded Minecraft server that is starting in a few days. It looks like a mix of heavy tech and magic and ships and guns.
The server has Gregtech so progress is not instant. You have to actually work for your machines. It also has Create so you can build cool factories and contraptions. There are ships with Valkyrien Skies and Eureka Ships so you can make moving vehicles in the sky or on the sea.
There is Clockwork and also Breaking Bad themed content plus guns with Tacz and Scorched Guns so the combat is not just swords. For peaceful stuff there is Vinery and Farmers Delight so you can farm and cook and make nicer food.
