This is a hardcore SMP where every life matters a lot. You only get one life on the whole server. If you die you are banned and there are no second chances at all.
It is semi anarchy so PvP is allowed and raiding and griefing are allowed too. People can form alliances and then betray each other. You have to be really careful who you trust.
Staff does not jump in to protect you. They do not fix wars or fights or politics. Players control what happens on the server.
The world border is huge so there is a lot of room to explore and hide. People can make secret bases or try to build long term empires if they can stay alive.
If you join you have to play smart and not waste your first day because one mistake can be the end.

This is a Minecraft server that is trying to be fully ruled by the players. The owners are running an open beta and they are still working on features and changes.
The cool thing is they really want feedback. They say feedback is welcomed with open arms and it feels like they are serious about making the server better for everyone.

Misted Lands is a new Minecraft roleplay server that just opened and it feels like a dark fantasy story you play inside.
The world is cursed by the tragedy of Anya and her father Yosif. Because of their story the land is sealed by magic and full of undead. Zombies skeletons huge spiders and other horrors keep attacking. Daytime only gives a short break and people who live here are just trying to survive.
The server is modded with RPG mechanics like classes and leveling. There are also quality of life mods that help with transport maps crafting farming and building so you can focus on roleplay and survival instead of only grinding.
You can talk in character or out of character using voice chat or normal text chat. You do not have to stay in character all the time so it feels pretty relaxed for new roleplayers.
The community is very small right now since the project just started so players can actually help shape the lore and how the world feels. It is all about people interacting with each other shaping the story and trying to live in a place where the dead never rest.

Ballistic SMP is a Minecraft server that is all about PvP and combat. The whole server is built around fighting other players and testing your skill. Wins come from timing and strategy instead of broken gear or cheap tricks.
There are four mythic weapons and one mythic armor set. Each one is connected to an elemental guardian like Air Water Fire and Death. These items are rare and really strong and players have to earn them through quests events and good combat.
The server has a lot of lore and worldbuilding. The story is about the four guardians and you can learn more by doing quests finding relics and playing through events that change the world.
There are frequent events like air drops that drop loot and start sudden fights. There are lore events that push the story forward and special events where players can fight for fragments of mythic weapons and armor.
The map has a 3,000 by 3,000 world border so the world feels tight. You run into other players more often and base spots actually matter.
Griefing bases and stealing from other players is not allowed. Builds and progress are protected so PvP can stay competitive without turning into chaos.
The server is Java only and opens on December 19 so players can jump in right when the battles start.

This is a way to play Minecraft that feels like LAN but it actually works over the internet.
From what I see you just host your world like a normal LAN world or a local server. Then your friends join the same room in the program and the game shows your world like it is on their LAN too.
It is nice because you do not need port forwarding or a public IP. It also works even if you are stuck behind weird internet stuff like CGNAT or a dorm network. You just install it click a few things and start playing together.
If your router and ports are already set up then you probably do not need this. But if you keep fighting your network and nothing works this looks like an easy way to play Minecraft with your friends without all the networking pain.
