I found a small semi vanilla SMP that is in a testing stage right now
They plan to start for real in about a week
It sounds like a simple survival server with a small group vibe while they get things ready

MineRealm is a public SMP survival server that has been online since 2010 and tons of players have joined over the years. It feels like a long running world where people actually stick around and build stuff together.
The gameplay stays close to vanilla and it is 100 percent legit survival with no pay to win and no item spawning. There is grief protection using CoreProtect and a classic plot system so your builds can stay safe.
The map is smaller and it slowly expands. New land generates in the latest Minecraft version and the server also uses a few custom plugins that add extra features for community stuff. There are no world resets so anything you build can stay for the long term.

Meteor Shower is a Vanilla plus survival server that is trying to keep one world running for years with no resets. The world has been going for about 7 months so you can explore real history and see what people have built.
It uses a small set of mods that mostly make things easier and add handy tools. You can still join with a totally vanilla client. There is a live map and there are protection systems like backups and logging to help keep builds and progress safe.
Voice chat is part of the setup and there is also a claims style mod so you can protect your area. They ask for players to be 16 plus and if you are younger you need to explain why you fit in.

LaLaLand is a small new survival multiplayer world that just started on 29.03.26 and it is trying to last for a long time. The vibe is vanilla and chill with builders and technical players and also newer people who just want to play at their own pace.
It runs on Fabric with minor gamerule and server setting tweaks. There are no custom crafting recipes. It keeps things vanilla while still having some cosmetic stuff like player heads miniblocks and an armor stand mod.
People are aiming for a nice looking spawn and a shopping district. There is also room for big redstone projects like perimeters and huge farms. The world border is set to 40k and it is mainly Java with a Bedrock port mentioned.
The End is not open right away. It opens 24 hours after the server starts and then the End gets reset after 6 days.
Rules are pretty strict and simple. You have to be 18+ and act mature. No griefing since logs can be checked. No exploits and no hacked clients. PVP has to be agreed on. Some dupes are allowed like TNT rails carpet tripwire hooks and gravity blocks. Claimed areas count at all Y levels and neighbors should not build closer than 300 blocks.

CaveMC is a semi anarchy survival server with an enhanced vanilla feel. The big twist is the overworld is all underground. There is no surface at all so you live in caves forever.
The world uses custom generation made by real Minecraft developers. You can still find biomes resources and structures but it is all below ground. Survival sounds rough and you need to be smart to last.
Season 2 is live with a fresh start and a bunch of additions. There is also a new Wasteland Dimension opening on November 8th. It brings new gear to fight over huge mega structures with secrets and its own currency for a new player economy. There is also a new spawn and a custom generated map made for that dimension.
