SwiftSMP is a new SMP that is trying to keep things mostly vanilla and simple. It is made for people who want an active community and PvP that still feels fair.
At the start there is a 30 minute grace period and then PvP turns on. You are not allowed to grief or steal from chests so your base and builds are meant to be respected. If you kill someone you are allowed to loot what they drop.
The world starts fresh with a 100×100 border so players run into each other early. Later on the border expands as the season goes on. The server also has a voting system where the community decides if the next season is Vanilla or Lifesteal.

HighlandsMC is a brand new Minecraft SMP that is getting ready to open and it is focused on geopolitical gameplay. It is meant for active players who want to stick around long term and help a new community grow.
The world is vanilla survival so it is not an earth map. The experience stays close to vanilla but it has a few basic plugins to make things smoother like picking up villagers into your inventory and cheaper golden apples that take 4 gold instead of 8.
If you like survival with player politics and simple quality of life changes this server looks like it is aiming for that kind of vibe.

FabricCraft is a raw survival server where the players make the story. It runs on Fabric and sticks to true vanilla mechanics so farms and contraptions work like you expect.
The world is meant to last with no resets. There is no land claiming so it feels like a real frontier and you have to figure things out with other people around.
They are hosting a trial by combat this Sunday at 2pm ET after a ban appeal. The playerbase picked a champion to fight EPICGAMES323 in a best of three. After the fight they plan to open their duels server for a public beta release.

I found Pasta2 and it is a long term Minecraft server with a semi anarchy style.
It has a dedicated community with rich lore and a really good atmosphere.
It seems like you can fit in no matter how you play. If you are into hardcore PVP you can go for it. If you just like building you can still find your place.
It is Java and it says 1.21.11.

I found a brand new geopolitical Minecraft server called New Haven and it started super recently so the world feels wide open and fair.
It supports crossplay so Java and Bedrock players can join together. The End and Nether are locked for now so early game progression stays more balanced.
The whole point is building nations and making alliances then starting wars if you want. It is more about politics and diplomacy with trade and strategy mixed in.
It also has SVC proximity chat so you can talk to players near you and it feels more real. Right now nobody is stacked yet so it is a good time to start your own nation and shape the map from the beginning.
