The server focuses on player driven conflict and medieval themed gameplay. You can construct block built ships, wage wars against other towns and nations, and fight using guns and custom medieval weapons. There is PotPVP style combat, custom combat hats, cannons, naval regions, and dangerous sea monsters. I found a whitelisted vanilla survival SMP on 1.21.3 that is meant to be chill and small. It has a few tiny qol plugins but it still tries to feel like normal vanilla.
