I found this factions server called Orix MC and it is built around grinding not paying. The god sets are not locked behind a paywall. You can actually grind them by fishing and playing a lot.

This server is a wild survival world that has been around since 2014 and it never resets. When you join it feels like classic Minecraft where players actually shape the map and nothing gets rolled back.
Griefing is allowed and pvp is always on so you are never really safe. You have to hide your base and watch your back because anyone can attack you or raid you. There are no teleports like rtp or tpa so you actually travel everywhere on foot or by boat or with portals.

This is a big Minecraft civilization event server that runs in seasons.
Season 4 is starting in February and it is based on Maze Runner. There will be a fresh new world new teams and new battles. The whole idea is that a ton of players join different civilizations and try to win together.
The server runs on Java 1.21.8 and has proximity voice chat. So you actually hear people close to you and it makes teamwork and fights feel more real.
Each season has its own twist and this time the maze theme is the main thing. You join a team try to survive and see if your group can outplay the others.
