I found RevsMC and it is an 18 plus Minecraft Java SMP running the All The Mods 10 modpack. It feels like one of those servers where people actually plan to stay and build a real history over time.
The main idea is nations and groups. You can create or join a nation faction or clan and then build cities grow industry and push magic and tech progression. People also run shops set up trade networks and try to build their own economy.
Politics are a big part of it with alliances and rivalries depending on what players decide. Conflict exists but you do not have to be part of it.

Solaris SMP is a relaxed Survival server that stays close to classic Minecraft but adds a few Vanilla plus upgrades. It is made for adults who want a stable long term place to build with other people and not feel rushed or forced to grind.
Season 2 started last weekend and the pace is slower on purpose. The End opens on Mar 14th so players can enjoy early game first.

The world is open with monthly pruning and the economy is based on diamonds with shops encouraged. This is a modded modern apocalypse server with a big horror vibe and a story that moves forward on real dates. Everyone starts trapped inside a government quarantine zone called Alpigus and the grid is only stable for a short time.
For the first 7 days players cannot leave the zone. When the wall loses power the world opens up and the Nether unlocks and the End becomes reachable.
Later the server hits a grid failure event and a nuke drops inside the wall and wipes everything in that area. If you did not escape before it happens you are basically done.
