This server is for people who actually want to feel scared in Minecraft. It is a hardcore SMP so you only get one life.
If you die you are banned from the server. There are no respawns and no second chances. Every fight and every cave trip actually matters.
The server is semi anarchy. Pvp is allowed. Raiding is allowed. Griefing is allowed. You can make alliances or betray everyone. Nothing is protected by default.
Staff does not step in to fix wars or drama. They do not pick favorites and they do not fix outcomes. Players control what happens and who wins.
The world border is huge. The map is 600000 by 600000 so there is tons of space for secret bases and big empires and places to hide.
You have to play smart. Be careful who you trust. Do not waste your first day because one mistake can end your whole run. I am honestly curious who will still be alive after the first week.

This is a small vanilla plus survival server with a few simple mods. It feels pretty chill and focused on building and community.
There are a couple builder teams and some solo builders too. A lot of people are already in endgame so there is a ton of loot around and the world feels very developed.
The server uses the Louieland official modpack. It has waystones and simple voice chat so travel is easier and players can talk in game.
The owner plans to reset the world in February so this is a good time to hop in and enjoy the current map before the fresh start.

TerraCraft is a newer Earth server that uses Towny and a geopolitical style so players can make nations and fight over land.
The server has regular events so there is always something going on in the world. It tries to keep everyone engaged with what is happening between different players and nations.
There are no mods at all. It runs with plugins and resource packs so you do not really have to download anything extra. You can just join and play.
TerraCraft uses a custom bot that connects the server chat to Discord. People on Discord can see chat and when players join so it feels like one big place.
The server is on Minecraft Java version 1.21. You can join TerraCraft if you want to forge your own nation and try to conquer land.

This server is called RefinedVanilla and it is a true vanilla anarchy world. There are basically no rules except you cannot use hacked clients. You can build bases destroy stuff explore far away and try weird experiments. It tries to stay exactly how Mojang made Minecraft so it feels like singleplayer but with other people.
The owner uses Fabric so the game keeps real vanilla mechanics. Redstone works like it should. TNT chains and piston machines act like singleplayer. Tick timings stay the same so technical players can make farms and machines without everything breaking.
The performance is tuned a lot. The server changes simulation distance mobcaps and render distance while people are online. This keeps it running smooth even when more players join.
There are a few gameplay notes. The nether roof is allowed so you can travel super fast. Chunk trailing is patched. Portal chunkloaders will work but they stop when no player is close in either dimension.
If you want a server that feels like real vanilla Minecraft with almost total freedom this one is pretty close.

LumaMC is a survival Towny server that tries to go a bit beyond normal servers. When I joined it felt like a place where you actually build a town and a community instead of just playing alone.
The main claiming system is Towny so you can start your own town or join someone else and even make nations. The server also has mcMMO so you level up skills and slowly become stronger just by playing.
There are custom coded items with special abilities and there is a player based economy where you gather resources produce stuff and trade with other players. You can pick jobs to earn money and try to become the richest or just use it to climb through the rank system.
They have a Hoarder plugin where you sell bulk items and the top four players in each event get rewarded. There is also a plugin called Artmap so you can make artwork on maps and show off your creativity.
The world has dynamic seasons and the time and weather follow real life in the northern hemisphere which makes the server feel more alive. There are fishing competitions with custom fish so even fishing turns into a mini game with rewards.
The community feels pretty inclusive and they want feedback from players. They have a roadmap with more content and events planned so it seems like a server that is going to keep updating instead of dying after a week.

This is a small All The Mods 10 To The Sky server for people who actually want to finish the pack.
The server is meant to be chill with building and tech. There are no banned items unless they actually crash the server. The owner wants it to feel relaxed and not super strict.
They are keeping it to around twenty active players so it stays lag free. It is not one of those servers that wipes every month or begs you for money just to claim chunks.
If you want a fresh world and time to progress through the modpack without constant resets this place looks pretty good.
