LightRealms SMP is a small whitelisted semi vanilla server that has been running for almost eight years. It is made for people who just want to enjoy normal Minecraft with others without a bunch of crazy plugins.
The server runs on version 1.21.10 with Fabric. There is a survival world and also a creative server where players can test builds before making them in survival. It keeps the vanilla feel but adds a few extras like a wandering trader datapack, armor statue tools, dragon dropping elytra, double shulker shells, more mob heads, player head drops, AFK display and a dynmap. There is also an audio player mod so you can add custom audio to music discs and horns.
The community is mainly adults from different walks of life. Everyone goes through a verification process so only real players get in and trolls and griefers stay out. There are community events and an active playerbase but it still feels like a small community where people know each other. There are no unnecessary moderators or overpowered staff. Everyone just plays as a normal player.
If you like exploring, building dirt huts or huge castles, or making complex redstone contraptions this server lets you do that in a safe relaxed place.

This is a huge Minecraft war server that is about to start. The owners are launching it on Friday and they keep calling it the biggest war server.
Everyone is trying to join before it really begins because that is when all the main stuff will start. Right now feels like the last chance to get in early before the big first fights.
From what I can tell it is all about war and big battles and players getting ready for a massive conflict. The server is made for people who want to fight and be part of something that feels like a big Minecraft war event.
There is not a lot of extra info yet but the vibe is super intense and people are joining up before Friday so they are not left behind when everything kicks off.

AvalonEarth is a geopolitics style earth smp where the map is a 1 to 500 scale of the real world. There is tons of space to claim land and create your own nation.
The server uses the Towny plugin so towns and nations are a big deal here. Anyone can start a nation because you get starter money when you join. You do not have to grind first or meet player requirements just to start playing how you want.
This is the second season of the server. The first season started in September and it built a strong community. Now season two is live and there are lots of new players and active nations.
If you like conflict and wars there are many of them on AvalonEarth. If you do not like fighting you can still live a mostly peaceful life and try to avoid the wars.
The main way to make money is with jobs. You can play as a Hunter Lumberjack Miner Fisherman or Farmer. This gives you different ways to earn cash and grow your town or nation.

This server feels like a small chill place for older players who just want normal Minecraft. There is a vanilla survival map and also a flat creative map so people can build and test stuff.
The admin is 31 and runs it on a dedicated home server in Ohio. It is PVE so it is about surviving and building and not fighting other players. They keep plugins minimal so it still feels like classic Minecraft.
The community is cozy and meant for players who are older than 21 and are LGBTQ plus friendly. They like to stay organized with a private website a blog and a wiki where players can document their builds and follow what is going on.
Right now they are getting ready to start a fresh campaign on the same world after the Copper Age update. It feels like the kind of place where people stick around and work on long term builds together.

Diddscraft is a survival style SMP that just opened again and it feels like a big restart with a bunch of new stuff to do.
The main thing on this server is the new ranks and prestige system. You can level up and unlock special perks commands and cosmetics so it feels like you are always working toward the next goal.
There is a full economy and shop setup. Players can buy and sell and trade and you can even make your own shop. If you like making money and doing deals this server really pushes that.
You can also get pets that follow you around. They stay with you on your adventures so it does not feel like you are playing alone all the time.
The server has 12 different jobs and professions. You pick jobs to earn money and climb job ranks and get rewards. It makes normal survival stuff like mining or building feel more important.
There are regular server events and competitions. They do PvP battles and build contests and other mini games so there is usually something happening with rewards to win.
Overall Diddscraft feels like a classic SMP but with a strong focus on ranks money jobs and events and it is made for players who want to grind and also hang out in a busy world.
