SurvivalMC is a semi vanilla SMP that tries to feel like normal Minecraft but a bit smoother. It runs on Minecraft 1.21.10 for both Java and Bedrock so lots of people can join.
From what I saw the server adds quality of life plugins and datapacks that do not ruin the normal survival feeling. The goal is to make gameplay better without turning it into a crazy modpack.
The community looks pretty active and friendly. They have a big discord with hundreds of members and the staff team is very active and ready to help players.
The server has been around since July 21st 2020 and they say it is lag free and focused on giving a nice survival experience. They are also celebrating a grand reopening after taking a break to improve things.
They use a plugin called Bluemap so you can check out the world map from the web and see all the builds from above.
If you want a long term semi vanilla survival world with an active community this server feels like a good pick.

Spugunke is a new SMP that is all about community and long term survival. The server just started so early players get to help shape the world and set the tone for how the community grows.
The main focus is on player made towns and teams. You can build shared bases farms and big projects or join groups that focus on pvp exploration or grinding resources. You can also play solo if you want. Both competitive and relaxed playstyles are welcome.
The rules are relaxed but still fair. Griefing stealing and random killing are not allowed. Pvp is only allowed when everyone agrees so fights are more like planned battles or friendly duels. Town or team wars can happen but only if both sides want it.
Spawn is meant to be a real community area not just a place you pass through once. Players can build there and hang out and it is supposed to feel like a shared hub for everyone.
The server supports full crossplay between Java and Bedrock so friends on different platforms can play together. It uses simple vanilla style plugins like tpa sethome spawn and CoreProtect plus Discord integration to keep things organized while staying close to normal survival.
There is an End event planned for later so players can gear up and prepare together. The server is also looking for moderators as the community grows.

This server is called CaveMC and it is on Season 2 right now. The whole overworld is underground so there is no normal surface at all. Everywhere you go you are in huge caves with different biomes resources and structures.
The server is semi anarchy so survival is really hard and players have a lot of freedom. It feels like enhanced vanilla because it stays close to normal Minecraft but has custom world generation made by real Minecraft developers. Only the most clever players will do well here.
They are also opening something new called the Wasteland Dimension. It is like a giant expansion with its own custom generated map. In the Wasteland you can find new powerful gear mega structures and special secrets. It even has its own currency and a new economy so trading there is different from the rest of the server.
There is a new spawn for the Wasteland that sets up the style of the dimension and the whole place is designed to be challenging and interesting. If you like dangerous caves hard survival and exploring huge custom areas this server is made for that.

Vanilla Demon is a new survival SMP that feels really chill and relaxed. It is made for players who just want to play Minecraft and hang out with a friendly community.
The server has an easy land claim system so you can keep your stuff safe. You do not have to worry as much about people taking your things inside your claims.
The world border is huge and feels basically endless so there are tons of places to explore and build. You can head out far and make your own base or find a spot near other players.
The community is described as mature and friendly. If you need help you can just ask in chat and people will help you out.
PvP is allowed. At spawn you can fight with keep inventory on so you do not lose your items. Outside of claims you can fight in a more real survival style without keep inventory if you want more risk.
The server is mostly vanilla but there are a few helpful commands like home tp and wild. These make it easier to move around without changing the normal survival feeling.
Overall it looks like a fresh server that needs new players to join and help it grow and it is focused on chill survival gameplay and a nice community.

This is a custom Minecraft world called Samsara that the creator has been building for over 10 years.
It is a MMO style RPG playtest that runs for 3 days. There is a custom questing experience that was made just for this world.
The beta this summer got a lot of praise and the owner has been working hard on it since then.
If you like trying new RPG worlds and testing servers this one feels pretty special.
