ContinuumSMP is a new semi vanilla survival server that feels like hardmode chaos with lots of freedom. It is made for players who want to build raid fight and explore with very few limits.
It runs on Java 1.21+ and it also supports Bedrock. The server is professionally hosted and aims for persistent uptime with a world that does not reset.
Gameplay is mostly anarchy style with minimal rules. The main rule is do not crash the server. PvP is open and you can play how you want.
It uses very light plugins with anti cheat plus entity and packet protections. It is optimized with Folia so big farms lots of mobs and PvP can still run smoother.
The world has custom vanilla terrain generation and custom mob spawning so mobs show up closer and act more aggressive. Ender pearls are persistent so you keep them after death or logout. Nether roof access is disabled to help reduce lag.
There are still some basic standards. No harassment or hate content and do not spam chat or use bots macros or flood messages. Exploits that cause critical performance issues are not allowed and duplication and travel exploits are allowed if they do not hurt performance.
Brogger SMP is a brand new Java survival server that is trying to feel classic but still different. It uses a custom Infuse plugin so the gameplay stays fresh over time.
The server is private and you have to apply to get in. That is supposed to help keep random hackers out and make the place feel safer.
It is also community driven so players can share ideas through polls and suggestions. They are looking for active players and also content creators who want to record or stream on the server.
I found a chill vanilla server that is trying to keep things calm and fair.

NoHackAnarchy is a semi anarchy vanilla server with very few rules and a lot of freedom. It has been running for almost a year so it feels like a place people actually live on.
You can join on Java and Bedrock and even consoles too. Java supports 1.13 to 1.21.x and 1.21.11 is recommended.
They keep the rules simple. No hacked clients no cheats and no xray even with resource packs. No exploiting server bugs. No crashing or trying to lag the server. No macros or automation tools. If you spam chat too hard you can get auto kicked.
Halcyon is a Lands PvP server that tries to feel like old school Minecraft survival but it still runs on the latest vanilla version 1.21.11. It is based in Australia and people also play from Europe the Americas and Asia so it feels pretty global.
The world is handmade and the rules are there to make things harder and slow down progress. Night cannot be skipped and healing is slow and only works in certain conditions. The server pushes you away from meta tricks and automation and more toward teamwork and being good at what you choose to do.
There is no teleportation so travel matters a lot. Players end up making roads waystations and even secret railways underground. Some crops and saplings only work in certain biomes so trading becomes important and regions start to feel different.
It does not force you into server lore. You can just start playing and your story grows as other players get involved. People have already been making art books myths and even weird superstitions from what happens in game.
