Broomstix SMP is a survival server that lets Java and Bedrock players play together on the latest Minecraft version. It runs on hard difficulty so mobs actually hurt and you have to pay attention.
There are custom enchantments and you can even put a lead on mobs to teleport them which is super handy for moving stuff around. Every Sunday you get free fly in the overworld so people use that time to explore and build big things.
Land is protected with ProtectionStones so random people cannot grief your builds. There is a bartering style economy with server shops and also a public market so you can trade and buy stuff. There are voting ranks and rewards plus some tutorial warps to help new players.
The main PvP arena is separate and has keep inventory so you can fight without losing your gear. You can random teleport in the overworld and there are commands for homes and teleporting to other players. There is also private messaging so it feels like a small chill community.

This is a hardcore vanilla style SMP that is super new and feels really fresh. The world is less than a week old so you are not super behind everyone.
The server runs the newest Minecraft update and uses almost no plugins. There are no ranks or pay to win stuff so everyone plays fair. If you die you get tempbanned so every fight and cave trip is actually scary.
When you join for the first time you get some starter items and also invis and regen so you can sneak away from spawn safely before other people see you.

This server is a community survival world that is trying really hard to stay free forever and still be fun. It is in beta and the owner self hosts it so it is not going away just because money runs out. There are no paid ranks no donation goals and no pay to win stuff so players can just relax and play.
The server uses a player driven economy. You can take jobs to earn money and then use that money with shopkeepers to make your own little stores and trade with other players. It feels like the market only grows if the players actually use it.
There is also an objective based rank system. You do tasks and complete goals to rank up and each rank gives you new rewards and features. So your progress is about what you do and how long you play.
You can get custom items and cosmetics just by playing a lot or by buying them with in game money from the player market. Some of the rewards come from events too.

This is a survival server called SurvivalMC and it feels pretty chill. It is a semi vanilla style server so it keeps the normal Minecraft feel but has some quality of life plugins and datapacks to make playing smoother without changing the game too much.
The server runs on version 1.21.10 for both Java and Bedrock which is nice if you have different devices. It has been around since July 21st 2020 and it still focuses on being lag free and friendly.
There is a very active staff team that helps a lot and the community is friendly and talkative. They have a big Discord with a lot of members and they are doing a grand reopening after taking a break to make things better for players.

Luminary Falls is a really cozy survival server that is made for adults who love Minecraft and want a long term home. It feels like classic survival but with some helpful plugins and datapacks that keep it smooth and fun without changing the vanilla style.
The server is whitelist only and for players 18 and older. People play from all over the world so there is usually someone online no matter the time. It runs on Java and also supports Bedrock crossplay and they allow non advantage client mods like Litematica and Xaero’s.

Anarchy Network is a semi anarchy Minecraft server that tries to feel like pure survival. It opened on October 11th 2024 and it runs all day and night. You can join on Java versions from 1.7.2 up to 1.21.10 but they say 1.21.10 is best so stuff does not break.
The server is made to stay close to vanilla Minecraft. There are almost no extra commands or plugins. There is no teleporting no pay to win and no map resets. The world border is huge at 2 million blocks so people can spread out really far.
Griefing is allowed and PvP is allowed so you always have to watch your back. You can use the spawn command to get back to civilization if you went too far away. The nether roof is allowed and phantoms are removed and only half the players are needed to skip the night so it stays playable.
There are still some rules. You cannot use exploits or lag machines or dupes. Spamming in chat is not allowed and harassment or racial slurs are not allowed either. So it is chaotic gameplay but not totally toxic.
If you want a long term semi vanilla world with danger everywhere and almost no restrictions this server is made for that style.
