This is a hardcore plus style server that feels almost like old school vanilla but with a twist. Every time you die you lose one heart and you can go all the way down to only three hearts. To get hearts back you have to craft heart crystals using echo shards and diamond blocks. Heart crystals can even give you extra temporary hearts up to twenty total but when you take damage those extra hearts go away first.
The world is basically vanilla with no teleport commands and all block damage turned on like fire spread and creeper explosions. You still are not allowed to steal or grief so it is not an anarchy server. The community is built around a whitelisted main SMP that started in 2019 and people compare it to a hermitcraft style server with a close knit vibe.
There are events hosted every weekend and mayor elections every month. There is also an optional cozy modded server and an extra hardcore server if you want more challenge. The server runs 24 7 on a dedicated machine and it is focused on smooth gameplay with quality of life tweaks like leaderboards better sleep and heads. The discord is active and players use optional proximity voice chat plus cross chat between game and discord so the server always feels alive.

I found The Garden SMP and it is a relaxed survival roleplay server for Java 1.21.11. It is made to be new player friendly and it has no join restrictions.
The main focus is worldbuilding and adventure with roleplay. Players make towns and nations in the overworld then go on bigger trips in alternate dimensions and build stories together.
It uses Towny so you can settle a town and protect your builds. You can make chest shops to sell goods and there is no forced economy. There is also a Devotions system where you can be a priest cultist or devoted worshipper of a god and get rewarded for piety. Multiverse is there so you can explore your gods realm and there are lots of quality of life features too.
