LanderYT SMP is a semi vanilla server that feels a lot like Hermitcraft. The world is about four months old and the server resets once a year so you have time to build big projects without the world feeling too old.
The server is very friendly and they do not allow griefing or killing. It is focused on a peaceful survival style where people can build and trade and work together.
There is a custom texture pack with shop permits cool hats and custom weapons. These items are only cosmetic and do not change how the game works so the server still feels very vanilla.
The only teleport command you can use is spawn in the overworld. Because of that players are encouraged to make roads and highways connecting bases and shops.
They also use several Hermitcraft style datapacks like single player sleep player heads and armor statues. Discord chat is linked to Minecraft chat so people can talk easily whether they are in game or not.
CoreProtect is installed so staff can check griefing and protect builds. Events are hosted sometimes and you can win event coins that are used to buy cosmetic items like the hats and weapons.
There is a small staff team that tries to keep the server calm and fun and they listen to players when there are problems.

AvalonEarth is a geo and earth smp server with a big 1 to 500 world map. There is a ton of space so players can make all kinds of nations.
The server uses Towny so towns and nations are a huge part of the gameplay. Anyone can start a nation because you get starter money when you join. You do not have to grind first or meet crazy player requirements.
The server is on its second season. The first season started in September and a strong community grew from it. The new season has already brought in lots of new players.
There are a lot of conflicts and wars between nations on this server. If you like fighting over land and power you will find it here. But if you do not like war you can still live a peaceful life and avoid most of it.
You make money mainly through jobs farming and fishing. The owner says more ways to earn money are going to be added. Overall it feels like a busy earth smp with active nations and constant action.

I found this server called Anarchy Network and it is a semi anarchy world that tries to feel like pure vanilla survival. It launched in October 2024 and it is hosted in New York City so it feels pretty stable and it is on all the time.
You can join with a ton of Java versions from 1.7.2 up to 1.21.10 and they recommend you use 1.21.10 so stuff works right. The world border is huge with two million blocks so you can run super far and hide if you want.
The gameplay is simple and kind of brutal. There are no map resets and no teleport commands other than a basic spawn command. There is no pay to win at all. Griefing and PVP are fully allowed so bases are never really safe. Nether roof travel is allowed. Phantoms are removed so nights are less annoying and only half the people online have to sleep to skip the night.
Even though it is semi anarchy there are still a few rules. You are not allowed to use dupes or exploits or lag machines. You also cannot spam chat or use harassment or racial slurs. Besides that the server really lets players do what they want and just survive or fight in a big dangerous world.

Creation Network is a new RPG style Minecraft server that just went into beta. I joined to check it out and the first gamemode is all about using elements.
You get special abilities that are based on the four elements. It is not a normal bending copy. They have custom abilities that are only on this server so it feels different from other element servers I played.
There are custom enchants and an RTP system so you can get out into the world fast. There is also a clan system so you can team up with other players and play together.
The server works on both Java and Bedrock so you can join no matter what edition you use.

United Lands is a Minecraft server that uses a big Earth map that is scaled down. Players make towns and nations and fight over land and politics. It feels like a world map strategy game but inside Minecraft.
The server is built around Towny so you can claim land and shape your borders. You can join an existing town or start your own and try to become a powerful nation. There are wars and alliances and lots of roleplay between players.
There are 7 different jobs you can pick from and they have skill trees so you can level up and get stronger abilities. You can unlock special gear like Masterwork Armor and perks like more sethomes or even flying inside your town.
The economy is fully player driven. There are no admin shops. Players make their own shops using player warps and sell items to each other. Some shops have better prices and some have more stock so you have to explore and find the best deals or try to run your own shop.
The server also has custom items like new weapons and unique foods including stuff like avocados and mac and cheese. It mixes normal survival with custom gear and fun items so it does not feel like a basic vanilla server.
The server store is cosmetic only so it is not pay to win. Sponsorships do not give gameplay advantages so everyone has a fair chance to get strong by playing the game instead of spending money.
