Hermitcraft Style 18+ Proximity SMP
This is a Hermitcraft style survival server that is made by the players for the players. When I joined I saw around 5 to 20 people on during the day and everyone seemed pretty chill and talkative.
The world is focused on a diamond based economy with a real shopping district where people make their own shops. There are also public builds and big community projects that anyone can join.
Most people use proximity chat so it feels way more social than normal servers. You can just walk up to someone and start talking while you build or mine.
The server tries to keep the normal vanilla feeling but with some extra cosmetic and quality of life plugins. New plugins get added from community requests and from polls so the players actually decide what gets changed.
It is Java only on version 1.21.11. The server is whitelisted and only for players 18 and older so it has more of an adult community vibe.

LoungeSmp is a new survival world that feels pretty chill. There are already active players and they really want more people to join their towns.
The server has an anti grief system so your builds stay safe. There is also anti Xray so people have to mine fair. It feels like they want a normal survival style where everyone plays legit.
You can use a shop command and there are player shops too so the economy is based on trading with other players. The world is fresh so there are still tons of places to build and start new towns.

Ordinary SMP is a vanilla Java world that feels like a small friendly town. Players from all over join to build explore and hang out together. It is a whitelisted server so the community stays respectful and calm.
The server is always kept up to date and right now it runs on version 1.21.11. It uses grief protection tools so staff can investigate griefing or theft. That way builds and bases feel safe.
There is a live world map using BlueMap so you can see the world from your browser and plan your next adventure. The server also has Simple VoiceChat and a custom audio system so people can talk and listen to custom sounds while playing.
Ordinary SMP has a custom resource pack with exclusive cosmetics trophies and event rewards. The theme is inspired by HermitCraft and players can even suggest new custom items and ideas.

This is a survival server that feels like just playing Minecraft again. There is no pay to win stuff and there are not a ton of annoying rules.
It is a custom SMP that does not use claim land systems. You just join and start building and surviving. The whole point is to get away from crazy plugins and huge rulebooks.
The community is growing and it seems like people join because they want simple gameplay. You play survival build stuff and try to stay alive without a bunch of nonsense in the way.

I found this server called Chilltown and it feels really calm and relaxed. It is a survival SMP that tries to stay close to vanilla but without all the usual chaos and drama. The world has been running for a long time and it has grown in a natural way with towns farms and different player projects.
Chilltown is made for people who like to play survival at their own pace. The community is mostly adults and everyone is respectful so it feels pretty safe and chill to play on. It is also good if you are tired of pay to win stuff or servers that reset all the time.
The world is not just random terrain. They use a custom world that looks really nice and there are seasons that change how everything looks. There are custom mobs weapons tools and enchants but they are balanced so they do not feel super overpowered.
