AuroraSMP is a Hermitcraft style SMP that has been running since April 2025 and it has around 36 members.
It is whitelist only so you have to apply to get in. The server runs in seasons and it swaps between vanilla and modded. Even numbered seasons are vanilla and odd numbered seasons are modded.
Between the main seasons there are mini seasons that are shorter and they have a big gimmick. Past gimmicks include stuff like anarchy and skyblock.
This season has a Taski company gimmick where you can roll a task like a prank or a social challenge. If you do it with video proof you can earn 1 to 3 Taski Tokens. Tokens can be traded for diamonds at a rate of 1 token for 3 diamonds.
There is also a datapack called ModelApplier that lets players add custom item models for things like hats armour and decorations. It uses Blockbench models and textures and you send the files to aoa. It can also be used to make armour invisible by renaming it to aurora:invis and applying the model in the menu.

Skirn WorldBuilding Wars is a worldbuilding server where players push from the first signs of civilization into bigger conflicts and bigger goals. It starts March 7 on Saturday and it is meant to feel like a long conquest from spawn and outward.
The admins try to stay out of the way as much as possible. Players decide the economy and the politics and who fights who. If you want war you can chase it and if you want alliances you can try to make them.

CaveMC is a semi anarchy survival server with enhanced vanilla gameplay. The whole overworld is underground so there is no surface at all. It feels like you are living in one giant cave world with biomes resources and structures hidden everywhere.
Season 2 is a fresh start with a bunch of additions. Survival is brutal and you have to be smart to make it.
There is also a big expansion called the Wasteland Dimension opening on November 8th. It has new gear to fight for huge mega structures with secrets and its own currency for a player driven economy. I found a Minecraft server that runs in seasons. Every couple months the world gets fully reset so everyone starts fresh again.
Right now it is basic vanilla so people can settle in and get to know each other while the server grows.
Near the end of each season the community votes on what the next reset will be. It might stay normal or it might switch into something new like OP weapons life steal anarchy or horror mods. I found Anarchy Network and it is a semi anarchy survival server that tries to stay really close to vanilla. It started on October 11th 2024 and it is hosted in New York City.
The server is online all the time and it lets Java players join from 1.7.2 up to 1.21.11. They recommend 1.21.10 so stuff works better.
The world is huge with a 2 million block border and they say there are no map resets. There is no pay to win and no teleporting. PvP and griefing are allowed so it can get wild.
The only non vanilla command is spawn so people far away can get back to civilization. Nether roof is allowed too and phantoms are removed. Only half the players are needed to skip the night.

It has Java and Bedrock crossplay so you can play with friends on PC console or mobile. It also supports cracked Minecraft.
There is home and chest protection so your stuff stays safe. You can run player shops and trade with others plus there are towns jobs and an economy.
