AdriftSMP is starting up with two different servers so you can pick how you want to play.
One server is vanilla enhanced. It has new world structure to explore and levelled mobs if you want more of a challenge. It also has an economy with player shops and auctions. You can claim land and PvP can be toggled. It also uses proximity chat with simple voice chat and has playtime rewards.
The other server is a Season 1 total PvP server. It has leader boards for kills deaths and playtime. You earn in game currency from kills and can buy kits so you can get back into fights fast. You can team up or go solo and nothing is against the rules. Teams get disbanded in the last week for a free for all event. It also has proximity chat with simple voice chat and a bounty system.
Both servers launch on 3rd April and the community helps shape things with polls and suggestions.

I found HighTide SMP and it is a brand new 18 plus survival server with a small crew vibe where people actually talk and connect.
It is whitelist only so you have to apply and they say they want trusted players. The server supports both Java and Bedrock so you can join from pretty much any device.
They do game nights and movie nights plus event nights and even drinking nights. For plugins it has graves so you can get your stuff back. It also has tree chop and a dynmap you can check in a browser. CoreProtect is there to stop griefing. Chests refill after five minutes so other people can loot too. You can also toggle PvP on or off.

The main idea is a three phase progression. You grind and explore while learning the custom drop tables and you push to level 100. After that there is a rebirth style reset where you specialize into a divergence build but rebirth is gatekept during alpha so nobody becomes a first day god.
